So in continuing my month of giveaways, this week I am giving away 3 prize packs from Body Glide! I’ll get to that in a minute…unless you don’t really care about what I have to say and just want to enter…then scroll on down.
Good, you’re still here. So I’ve been having some back pain the past few days, so it’s been hard to get motivated to run. So instead, I thought I’d talk about some extra curricular activities I’ve started. Here ya go!
Pushups and Situps
Back in high school there was a guy I knew who was pretty athletic and pretty built. Based on his frame, I figured he spent a few hours in the gym lifting each day. One afternoon as I was icing my shins after cross-country practice, I over heard him say that he didn’t lift at all! All he did was push ups and sit ups, every day. Seeing as though he had the reputation of being a very honest guy, I had to believe him. And why not? For centuries people have gotten into great shape without a modern gym, just their bodies and the world around them.
Me, on the other hand, I need a little motivation. I need to see the numbers, be able to track it, so it stares me in the face and lets me know that despite the fact that my body hasn’t changed yet, the numbers are racking up. So I was glad when I stumbled upon the 100 push up and 200 sit up Android apps. I’ve tried the programs before, but just using the paper print outs…which you can easily slip into a drawer and forget all about. The apps, however, are there on your phone every day…and you can even set reminders. They track your stats and keep you going.
So, the journey has begun. My wife and I both just finished day 2 of each program, and we’re feeling the burn. Hopefully once we hit the goal we’ll be able to share the news and our awesome new bodies!
Body Glide Review & Giveaway
The past few weeks I’ve reviewed some great products, with a complete unboxing and narrative to go along with them. This time I thought…I’m not going to do that. I’m just going to tell you how it is, without the fluff.
As a runner, I chafe. I chafe between my legs. I chafe under my arms. Even my nipples chafe sometimes. Be honest, you do too. As if muscle fatigue and stomach issues weren’t enough, we have raw skin with which to deal after a long and taxing run. But it doesn’t have to be that way! There is hope!
Enter Body Glide. Body Glide makes “technically advanced balms, for comfort, for life.” In short, Body Glide is awesome. Simply apply (like a deodorant stick) to the problem areas, and viola! No more chafing. It’s fast and easy with no mess to worry about. Put it on before your run and you are good to go.
But wait, it gets better. Body Glide also makes an Anti Pain balm. Similar to Icy Hot and other like products, you apply it to sore muscles and it helps alleviate the pain. I like that it goes on just like regular body glide, so you’re not getting it all over your hands. The only thing I don’t like is that it doesn’t have a vanishing scent…so not something you can wear to the office. But it definitely does the job. Thankfully, this one has a red lid…it would be very unfortunate to mix this one up with the anti-chafe balm…..
So, how can you win an awesome 3-product prize pack (Anti-Chafe, Anti-Pain, and Skin Glide) plus a running hat? Complete each of the following below to receive your four entries. Make sure to leave a comment on this post for each of the four, as each comment (max 4) will count as an entry. Comments must be posted by Sunday, February 24 at 12:00 p.m. EST.

Nice posts. I’m using the same 100 and 200 program. Just starting now. Encouraging to hear that you can develop strength without weights. Thanks!

I love Bodyglide. The first time I chafed I thought my nipples were going to fall off. Haha!

I need this. I have a awesome scar from chaffing, as well as a few scabs currently. Never knew this was a problem until I started training for my half marathon.

I’d love to win, because I chafe really badly in, ahem, certain spots and find that Body Glide works wonders! No funny chafing stories – just painful ones

The first time I chafed was on one of my very first long runs (6 miles i believe) last year during my half training. I looked down between my legs and thought I was breaking out in hives or something! Terrible burning pain. Needless to say, I got home and immediately googled it. Luckily not hives, just good old chafing. Haha

BodyGlide is truly a lifesaver. If I even consider wearing running shorts, I know I’ll be dead without it. I have a serious problem with chafing under my boobs if I don’t glide up before a long run. The best part is when I’m with a man friend and they get very concerned about the red marks in that area.

I should be a tester for BodyGlide as I get a serious case of the ‘chafes’ as soon asthetemp drops. In some veeeerrry uncomfortable and sensitive places.
I would love this! The Skin Glide is my fave and was a life saver when I ran the Columbus Marathon. 26.2 miles and no blisters = fantastic product!

I think that is a very valid point, that for centuries folks got in-shape without a gym. I think the gym is good for folks who need a more social environment to get through their workouts. I’m with you, though – I’m good with some crunches and pushups and then a nice long 10 miler

First, I’d like to say that those apps are pretty awesome. I use the ones on the iPhone and love them. They allow you to take your time to do your reps but give you a specific resting time which is usually the biggest problem for me.
As for the package, that would be awesome! After my boyfriend took me to Sports Authority after I guilted him into buying me a foam roller, I also managed to sneak in a cheaper brand of one of these anti chafing products. I’ve only used it once so far but it helped a lot! It’s usually the reason why I don’t wear shorts unless they’re like a few inches above my knee but this allowed me to run in short shorts the other day and loved it! This heat in Miami is way too intense to be running in anything but shorts. There are people who run in their bathing suits in here, it’s that bad.

Thanks for your blog and for being honest and open about fitness (and the problems that go along with it). Have not used Body Glide, or any other anti-chafing balm, yet. Chafing is starting to become a problem as I have started to increase my mileage in preparation for my first half marathon.

I’d love to win the prize pack because I found out the hard way that pain from chafing can be even more painful than pain in the knees after a long run. It sucks to almost have to throw in the towel when there’s plenty left in the tank because of chafing pain…I thought I was being a wuss until I took my jacket off and there was blood on my shirt!

I’ve been thinking of writing about this topic on my blog too for awhile! (Not the pushups, the chafing). I couldn’t decide if it would be too much to include pics of my shirts that look like my nipples were crying blood! But after writing that, it does sound like a tad too much. Needless to say, that happens when I don’t have BodyGlide. Keep up the great work on the blog!
I am now following you & @bodyglide on twitter! (And thanks for following me back! I was on a plane to New Orleans for the R&R full on Sunday and couldn’t post this comment immediately.)
